The origin of car seat belts. As a basic protective device to protect the driver and occupants during a car collision, the seat belt was born earlier than the car. As early as 1885, seat belts appeared and were used on carriages to prevent passengers from falling off the carriage. 

In a car race held in New York on May 20, 1902, a racer used several belts to tie himself and his companions to the seat in order to prevent being thrown out of the car at high speed. During the race, the car they drove into the crowd in an accident, killing two people and injuring dozens of others, but these racers escaped because of the belt. These belts became the prototype of car seat belts, and they saved the lives of users when they were used for the first time in a car.
